Why Mold Removal Is Important

If you’ve discovered black mold in your building, the time to enact a thorough mold removal program is now. Depending on the level of infestation, the structural integrity of the building may be at risk. Worse yet, black mold can have a serious deleterious effect on the health of anyone living or working in its presence.

If that sounds serious, it is. Here’s a brief rundown of the problems you can face if you avoid a thorough mold removal program.

Structural Damage

Black mold can usually be found in the parts of a building you might not often visit — places like structural supports and load-bearing beams. And if the mold gets into a porous surface, it can gradually eat away at it until there’s nothing left. Despite its insignificant appearance, mold can cause serious structural problems in your home.

Health

If left unchecked, mold can pose serious health risks to humans and pets. In its worst cases, black mold poisoning can cause allergy symptoms, headaches, and even coughing fits severe enough to cause passageways to bleed.

But don’t panic!

While the problems we describe here are frightening, they describe only what can happen in the advanced stages of a mold infestation — that is, without a mold removal effort to arrest its progress. If the mold problem is a small one, and it’s confined to a flat, nonporous surface such as a tile floor, you may even be able to remove it yourself with a sturdy sponge and a strong cleanser. But if you’ve called in a certified mold inspector and discovered the problem is a severe one, a team of mold removal experts can handle the problem for you, in just a few easy steps:

1. Identify the problem

First, the mold removal team will find out where the mold is, and what caused the conditions that allow it to survive. This may be a leaky pipe, condensation on walls or windows, or pooling water issuing from a foundation crack.

2. Cordon off the area

Next, the team will seal off the affected area. This will ensure that the mold removal process won’t release mold spores to other areas of the building, where they can take root and cause an entirely new set of problems.

3 .Mold removal

Finally, the team will use high-pressure hoses to clear the entire area of mold.

John and Barbara Vicich

“We wanted to thank you for your personal and specialized attention to the water problem we had in our basement. You took the time to inspect the whole situation and gave us recommendations, all of which worked. You had a way of explaining the process and materials that would be used in a way that we understood. We are very pleased with the work that was done and would highly recommend your company to anyone.”

Debbie, Berwyn

“The day after Hurricane Irene, all of my neighbors basements were filled with water, while mine remained dry! It is wonderful, everything remains dry and the battery backup worked beautifully when my power was out for 2 days. Dry AND quiet, thank you, thank you! Thanks! Debbie, Berwyn”

Doug Smith, Glenside

“All I have to say is that Hurricane Irene was no match for the job that Rightway did for my basement and my father-in-law’s. I had my basement done 5 years ago and we are still bone dry and my father-inlaw’s was done last year and another dry basement… Great job! I highly recommend them for waterproofing and mold remediation.”
